An internship is the perfect way to improve your skills and experience in a professional work environment overseas, and also offers a platform for personal development.  Whether you are looking to acquire insight into a new industry, approaching a career change or to gain some on the job training to compliment your studies, an internship will positively enhance your CV in an increasingly competitive job market.

In partnership with Greenpop, we are offering a unique opportunity for Interns to gain hands-on practical experience working with a NGO dedicated to promoting environmental awaremess within African communities, and combating climate change.

About Greenpop

Greenpop is a social enterprise that plants trees and sets up creative ways of sustaining trees through community involvement and spreads environmental education in sub-Saharan Africa. Greenpop’s objectives are to uplift communities, plant trees in deforested areas, green under-greened urban areas, spread environmental awareness, combat climate change and inspire a green movement by making greening enjoyable. Greenpop started in September 2010 and has since planted over 8000 trees in over 120 beneficiary schools, crèches, orphanages, old-age homes, community centres as well as deforested areas. Creative tree-care programmes have been implemented and children, community members and volunteers are getting their hands dirty, learning a lot and loving it.

In July 2012, Greenpop expanded to Zambia; the country with the second highest deforestation in the world. During a three-week project, thousands of indigenous trees were planted in and around the Victoria Falls World Heritage Site, Dambwa Forest, and at schools and on subsistence farms around Livingstone. In addition, the program taught children at schools about trees and conservation, and hosted workshops for farmers to promote conservation farming methods.

Greenpop recently won the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Western Cape Provincial Government competition for Social Enterprises in South Africa, as well as a LeadSA competition run by Cape Talk in association with the Dischem Foundation. Greenpop was also shortlisted for an Enviropeadia award in two categories in South Africa.
