HELP STOP THE INJURY AND DEATH OF WILDLIFE IN POACHER'S SNARES

Wire snares set by poachers can cause terrible injury and a slow, painful death.  Funds raised through this initiative will enable us to employ, train and equip qualified anti-poaching scouts to help protect wildlife.  In return you will receive regular updates on the progress of the anti poaching unit and of the wildlife area that they, with your help, are protecting.

We currently support two anti-poaching units (APUs), and will be adding more as and when finances allow:

BUMI HILLS ANTI-POACHING UNIT (BHAPU)  Founded in July 2009, BHAPU works tirelessly to prevent all forms of poaching against flora and fauna found in and around the Bumi Hills Wildlife Area in the north of Zimbabwe.  Their work aims to remove snares to prevent the death and injury they cause, as well as working with communities to stop poaching in the area.

VICTORIA FALLS ANTI-POACHING UNIT (VFAPU)  Established in 1999 VFAPU operates within the Zambezi National Park, close to the Victoria Falls.  The scouts' work entails the removal of snares and landmines and the apprehension of poachers.  In addition, educational programs in schools and youth groups are undertaken whilst employment is sourced for poachers to provide economic reasons for them to cease their destructive practices.
