Some more unusual ways to support ALERT
Where is your pride? campaign
The WHERE IS YOUR PRIDE? campaign is aimed at gaining support for lion conservation from organizations, clubs, and businesses that incorporate the Lion in their logos, organizational symbols or advertising.
The name of the list of companies, businesses, organizations and clubs will be called the ALERT HIT LIST.
We will then encourage them to support ALERT and its efforts to ensure the future of the African Lion.
ALERT is ENCOURAGING people to do their little bit by opening their eyes to spot every single lion SYMBOL and add thar organization to the HIT LIST.
Should anyone have any targets for the HIT LIST they should e-mail sponsor@lionalert.org with the details. We are looking for the following information:
Your name
Name of the organization using the lion as a symbol
How do they use the symbol
Location of the organization (city / country)
Contact details for the organization
Give your mouse a heart: Change the world one search at a time
Everyclick is a search engine with a difference; you can raise money for ALERT every time you search. If you would like to assist ALERT in this way just click on the following link to fundraise for ALERT using the Everyclick search engine. http://charities.everyclick.com/info.xq?id=162959
eBay auctions
ALERT has linked up with MissionFish, the charity arm of the web market-place phenomenon eBay. When posting an item for sale on eBay, you have the option of donating a percentage of the sale to a charity. Simply search for African Lion & Environmental Research Trust in the field and the rest is automatic with MissionFish making all the necessary transactions for you to ensure the Trust receives the percentage you choose.
Shumba Famba
We are hoping that with enough interest we can convince a major ice cream manufacturer to support our program by distributing Shumba Famba ice cream.
The name Shumba Famba means “lion walk” in the Shona language, local to our program’s base in Zimbabwe.
We propose that the ice cream could be toffee flavoured to match a lion’s fur colour and contain chocolate lion paws. Any funds generated from this promotion will go directly to creating suitable release sites for lions as well as funding important research and community development schemes.
If you would like to help us make this dream a reality, then please click on the following link and sign our petition:

Leave a Living Legacy…
Imagine having to go to a museum to see a lion.
It is a fact that humans are responsible for extinguishing species at 1,000 times the natural rate seen in evolution. Over the next 100 years, this figure could increase to 10,000. If we don't look out for the future, for the lives of people to come, much of what we have in the world today will have to be examined in museums and taught in school history lessons.
Your life can help life in Africa.
What are the options for leaving a legacy to ALERT? Your gift can take any of the following forms:
• a residual bequest - after making provisions for your family and friends, the balance of your belongings (legally referred to as your "estate") is donated to ALERT.
• a percentage of your estate - where a specific percentage of your estate is left to ALERT.
• a pecuniary bequest - where a specific sum of money is donated.
• a specific gift bequest - referring to any non-cash items such as shares, property, jewellery, artwork, or other valuables, which can be given to ALERT.
• a life insurance/assurance policy.
• a life income plan - where you set up a trust for your dependants, providing them with a regular income, while the principal of the trust (the original amount invested) is paid to your favorite cause after a specified time period - this can also be known as a 'charitable remainder trust'.
What next?
The next step is for you to make an appointment with your financial or legal adviser. They can help you to decide what sort of bequest to make. We urge you to consult with a legal or financial adviser to make sure that:
• you can take advantage of any savings in inheritance tax.
• your will is legal and valid for your country.
The truth is that the cost of using a professional adviser is often very little when compared to the legal costs your family may incur should you pass away without leaving a valid will.
Thank you. Together we can leave the children of Africa a living continent.
